Of all the services, the Navy has established the most comprehensive (and complicated) enlistment bonus programs. The Navy authorizes enlistment bonuses for a variety of situations, including extended time in the Delayed Enlistment Program (DEP). The following Navy enlistment bonus information is derived from COMNAVCRUITCOM Message R 031453Z. The information is current as of April 2005. Enlistment Bonus information is subject to change. For the latest information, see the Navy Recruiting Command's Enlistment Incentive Web Page. Enlisted Bonus Source Rate Program (EBSRP) The EBSRP provides a monetary enlistment bonus for navy recruits who enlist in the below ratings (jobs) and ship out to basic training during the time-periods indicated. To qualify for these bonuses, recruits must agree to extend their normal four-year enlistment contract by one year (total five year active duty enlistment). Those who enlist under a program which requires a five or six year enlistment period (such as Nuclear or Advanced Technical Programs) do not have to extend their enlistments. Those who enlist under one of the four-year GENDET or GTEP programs (programs where one enlists without a guaranteed rating, and gets their job assigned later) also are not required to extend their enlistments.
Enlistment Bonus Source Rate -- Navy College Fund (EBSR-NCF) Some ratings (jobs) have the choice of receiving an enlistment bonus or the Navy College Fund. A very few ratings can receive a reduced bonus with the Navy College Fund (those ratings are indicated in the chart below). As with the EBSR program, to qualify for these bonuses, recruits must agree to extend their normal four-year enlistment contract by one year (total five year active duty enlistment). The amount of the College Fund is $350 per month, added to the monthly amount that the Montgomery G.I. Bill pays for college education.
